Allergic rhinitis An allergy is a reaction of your immune system to something that only bothers a small group of people. People with allergies are often sensitive to more than one thing. The substances that usually cause adverse reactions are: * pollen * dust mites * mold spores * Animal dander * Food * Insect bites * Medicines Normally, your immune system fights germs. It is your body's defense system. However, in most allergic reactions it responds to a false alarm. Genes and the environment likely play a role in allergies. Allergies can cause a number of symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing, itching, rashes, edema (swelling), or asthma. These range from mild to severe. A severe reaction called anaphylaxis can be fatal. Doctors use skin and blood tests to diagnose allergies. Treatments include medicines, injections, and avoiding substances that cause allergies. BRUXISM AND DYSFUNCTION OF THE TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT. WHAT IS BRUXISM: Bruxism (BRX) is defined as involuntary and intense grinding and/or clenching of the teeth, due to hypertrophy and/or repeated contraction of the masticatory muscles, especially the masseter muscles. It can happen during sleep or during the day. Toxin treatment is a treatment used in order to limit damage to different structures, especially the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). (1 ) Patients may report more or less acute pain during the chewing process; but also chronic pain, abnormal mobility, as well as wear and failure in dental restorations, as in the case of dental implants.(2) Headache, often with atypical irradiation, should be added to the above symptomatology.( 3 ) There are also patients who perceive the problem as an aesthetic disorder and their concern is due more to the squarer shape of the face. What does the procedure consist of? First, the area to be treated is anesthetized, then the points to infiltrate the toxin are selected. After treatment with TOXINA, 24% of the patients were free of BRX and the remaining 76% had great improvement; There were few and transient side effects. TB-A protects orofacial structures (teeth, jaw muscles, TMJ) from BRX-induced damage, while relieving pain and symptoms related to excessive muscle contraction. To close
